Today, we tip our hats in honor of National Airborne Day—a day dedicated to recognizing the courage, dedication, and extraordinary skills of the paratroopers who have served and continue to serve in airborne units.

The legacy of airborne operations began on August 16, 1940, when the U.S. Army conducted its first successful parachute jump, leading to the creation of airborne forces. This paved the way for the first large-scale airborne assault during World War II, known as Operation Husky, which took place in July 1943 in Sicily. This historic operation demonstrated the strategic value of airborne troops, allowing them to deploy rapidly behind enemy lines and execute missions that were vital to the success of Allied operations.

Whether in times of peace or conflict, these brave individuals have played a vital role in protecting our nation and preserving our freedoms. Their commitment to excellence and willingness to go above and beyond, often in the face of great danger, is truly inspiring.

Let's take a moment to remember and honor the sacrifices made by these heroes and express our gratitude for their unwavering service.
